In Bleach there are many fierce battles that have taken place. Below are some of the notable battles from the Bleach anime.
| Kurosaki Ichigo Vs. Hollow # 1 Setting: Outside Kurosaki Ichigo's House Story: The first major battle between Ichigo and a Hollow takes place at the Kurosaki household. The hollow tries to take  spirtual powers away from Ichigo,but the intefference of Rukia makes it diffcult for the hollow in its mission. The battle starts when Ichigo gets the death gods power. Ichigo cuts of the left arm of the hollow with his "Soul Slayer", this makes the hollow get angry and cause him to attack more. Second move Ichigo makes is cut of his right leg, this unbalance leads to the almost falling of the hollow. As the hollow is falling, Ichigo cuts right through his body, which leads to the purification of the soul.

Kurosaki Ichigo Vs. Hollow # 2 Setting: Unnamed Park  Story: The second battle between Ichigo and a Hollow happens very quickly. It takes place at Karakura block no.3, Rukia tells Ichigo if he kills the Hollow he must then kill every other that comes in his path. Ichigo eventully cuts the hollows "legs", as the hollow dissappears , Ichigo starts talking to Rukia. The hollow reappers behind Ichigo, but gets killed by the "Soul Slayer". |

Kurosaki Ichigo Vs. Serial Killer Hollow Setting: Around the street of Karakura Town Story: Ichigo’s friend Chad finds a random cockatiel which leads to a string of accidents that would have killed a normal man. Ichigo and Rukia soon establish the bird is possessed by a spirit and both it and Chad are being stalked by a Hollow. Just after they figure this out, Ichigo’s sister Karin comes crying about the bird, saying that she had seen its memories and then passes out. Ichigo stays to tend to her while Rukia goes to help Chad. When Rukia goes to help out Chad, she finds she is fairly useless after her attacks don’t even scratch it. She then tries to assist Chad by being his eyes, directing him on where to attack. When the hollow sees he is in trouble, he releases small frog like creatures who spit out leeches. On the command of the hollow, the leeches explode, damage whatever they are attached to. The hollow attached these to the bird cage, threatening to detonate them if Chad moves. The hollow begins chasing after Rukia, barraging her with the exploding leeches. After some running, Rukia reaches a dead end and is finally assisted by Ichigo. Ichigo’s soul is forced out of his body by Rukia and he begins the fight. The hollow attempts to blow him up with the leeches, but Ichigo just shrug off the explosions and attacks. During the fight, the hollow explains how he was a serial killer who fell off a balcony after killing the boy in the cockatiel’s mother. Ichigo gets agitated by the story, allowing the hollow to launch more leeches at him. Ichigo catches a handful of them, charges at the hollow and punches his teeth in. With the leeches in the hollows mouth, he cannot blow them up without killing himself. While in its mouth, Ichigo rips out the hollow’s tongue, preventing it from exploding any more leeches. Now that the hollow has no way to fight back, Ichigo finishes him off with one final blow. Because of the horrible sins he had committed before death, the hollow was not destroyed, but sent to Hell. After Ichigo laid the final blow, a bright green light shot from the wound, followed by a large set of doors with skeletons on them coming out of the ground. When the doors opened, a large hand impaled the hollow who was dragged into the door and slowly disintegrated. |

Kurosaki Ichigo vs. Jidanbo Setting: West Gate entrance to Soul Society Story: Ichigo, Inoue, Chad, Ishida, and Ganzo all want to get into Soul Society with the mission of saving Rukia from  execution. The gate to
Soul Society is guarded by a huge creature named Jidanbo with immense physical power and two gigantic
axes. Jidanbo believes all fights must be 1 on 1 and defeat means he must open the gates, even to an enemy.
Him and Ichigo battle, however, Jidanbo could not match the speed, skill,
and strength of Ichigo, and ended up getting beat. He is the first person that Ichigo fought
with in Soul Society, and following his honorable defeat became friends with Ichigo and
his team.

Kurosaki Ichigo Vs. Madarame Ikkaku Setting: Unknown location in Soul Society Story: Ichigo and Ganju land in the Seireitei and find themselves in front of two members of the 11th squad, Madarame Ikkaku and Ayasegawa Yumichika. Ganju turns and runs and is followed by Yumichika, leaving Ichigo and Ikkaku to fight. After a brief conversation, Ikkaku attempts to make a quick attack to catch Ichigo off guard, but it was easily evaded. The evade surprises Ikkaku because a simple person like Ichigo should not be able to jump out of the way so easily. The real fight begins after that, with both blocking and evading each others attacks. After a series of failed attacks by both sides, both Ikkaku and Ichigo land a hit above the other’s eye. Ikkaku laughs as Ichigo wipes the blood from his eye, then putting styptic on his own, giving him a big advantage over Ichigo. Upon finding out who trained Ichigo, Ikkaku releases his Zapakutou, a spear, and decided to fight seriously. Ikkaku lunges with his spear, which Ichigo blocks easily and attempts to mount a counterattack at his now open opponent. Just before Ichigo attacks, the spear splits into three sections, hooking back to hit Ichigo in the arm. The wound made it impossible for Ichigo to hold his sword, so he tied his hand around the hand with the wrapping of his sword. Ikkaku was to busy talking about capturing him to notice this, so Ichigo attacks, destroying the wall next to him. After another series of blocked and evaded attacks, Ikkaku jumped on top of the wall next to them to avoid being hit. Ichigo in turn slashes the wall in order to catch him off guard. When Ikkaku lands, Ichigo charges in an attempts to attack him from behind, but is met with the butt of a spear to the face. Ikkaku again brags how Ichigo is to slow and will never be able to beat him, but is silenced when Ichigo shows the end Ikkaku’s spear in his hand. Ichigo responds by saying he now knows how to read his attacks and charges at Ikkaku again. After jumping in the air, Ichigo comes down on Ikkaku with all of his might. When he came down, Ichigo cut the handle of the spear in half, along with a chunk of Ikkaku’s arm. Ichigo in turn tells Ikkaku the fight is over, but he does not give up very easily. With only one working arm and a broken spear, Ikkaku charges for one last attack which Ichigo stops with ease. The blood loss caused by Ichigo’s two big strikes caused Ikkaku to lose consciousness. Some time later, Ikkaku wakes up to the sight of Ichigo sitting next to him holding both of their swords. Ichigo explains he used the remaining styptic to stop both of their wounds from bleeding, and that he needed to ask him some questions. Ikkaku answers to where Rukia is being kept and follows with a warning about his captain, Zaraki Kenpachi. He says that Zaraki will be hunting down the strongest of the intruders and how Ichigo might not even survive long enough for his brain to comprehend the his strength. |

Kurosaki Ichigo Vs. Zaraki Kenpachi Setting: Near Senzaikyuu (Tower of Penitence) in Soul Society Story: After looking for many days, Zaraki Kenpachi the 11th Division Captain finally finds Kurosaki Ichgio. The first thing that they notice is a huge spirt force energy that pushes them down to the ground, Ganju & Ichigo start running but suddenly Kenpachi shows up behind Ichigo and stabs him. It may seem that the battle maybe over, but when Ichigo tries to take the sword out of his own chest, its gone. What Ichigo realizes was the thing that made him think he got stabbed was an air Bloodlust. Ichigo orders Ganju to take Hanatarou and go on ahead, since the battle might get very serious and he doesnt want any of his friends to get hurt. He orders them to save Rukia, while he takes care of Kenpachi, the battle begins. Ichigo takes out his soul slayer (zangetsu) and powers up, Zaraki impressed by Ichigo's spirit power tries to give Ichigo an upper hand. He says " I'll Let you cut me first", Ichigo confused doesnt agree, but everntully gives in. But it doesnt matter because the first blow Ichigo gives doesnt even put one scratch on Kenpachi, instead it makes Ichgio bleed from his own hand. After the realization that Ichigo can’t harm Zaraki Kenpachi, he immediately ran. And ran. And ran. He was now afraid of Kenpachi. Kenpachi’s overwhelming spirit force was so strong, that physical attacks from anyone lower than his own power, can’t harm him physically. He is also the only captain of the 13 Gotei that has never learned of his Zanpakuto’s name. Ichigo continued running from Zaraki Kenpachi. Every time he intercepted him, Ichigo fought him off momentarily and ran even more. In a final chase, Zaraki surprised Ichigo by charging through a wall and stabbing Ichigo through Zangetsu and into his heart. Ichigo was now dying. And before his death and the flashback of his life, Zangetsu appeared. He made Ichigo realize that cowering was not the way he should be going. Ichigo stopped running and revived with the help of his Zanpakuto. He charged Kenpachi and did damage to the demon of Soul Society. He is now able to cut Zaraki. Zaraki became excited and charged also, attacking with his own might against Ichigo’s. Ichigo was also able to hear the bells at each end of Zaraki’s hair. After this realization, Kenpachi took off his eye patch, which he requested from the technology guild to build for him. It consumes his seemingly endless amount of spirit pressure, keeping it only half way of his power, which is still immensely strong. Even without the eye patch, Kurosaki Ichigo was still slightly stronger. A final stroke of their blades, and both fell. However, Zaraki is claimed the loser due to him not being able to kill Ichigo. |

Kurosaki Ichigo vs. Abarai Renji Setting: Unknown location in Soul Society Story: This battle takes place after Ichigo’s battle with Ikkaku. After his victory, Ichigo continued his way to the Tower of Penitence, but was stopped by Abarai Renji at the base of the stairs. Renji quickly summoned Zabimaru’s Shikai form and attacked Ichigo in defence of the passage to the Tower of Penitence. Abarai Renji explains that his power has increased, since a Shinigami’s powers are reduced to one fifth in the real world. Ichigo retort’s he is stronger and they start verbally fighting also. During the fight, Ichigo notices Renji’s count of rapid attacks before recalling Zabimaru to a full sword. He also recalls his training is Urahara Kisuke. Kisuke had explained that a Shinigami’s Shikai has a set number of times which they can rapidly attack before having to withdraw their sword to a fully connected form of a sword and attack again. Renji’s count was three. Ichigo blocked all three attacks, and as Zabimaru returned to a sword form, Ichigo leapt at the opening. Resulting in complete failure. Renji was faster than Ichigo and had dodged the blow. He also countered, slashing through Ichigo’s shoulder and down his torso. Ichigo’s attack was complimented as perfect by Renji, other than the fact that he is too slow. This fight drew on until sunset. Clashing and trading blows. They continued in this seemingly mindless loop until Ichigo recalled a lesson he learned from Urahara. Resolve. As Ichigo trained, Urahara lectured him to be “Afraid to lose. Afraid to cut. Afraid to kill.” In the end, Urahara taught him resolve and as Ichigo remembered the lesson, he began unleashing his spirit pressure for the attack. “I will win. I will cut. I will kill.” In doing so, Ichigo unleashed one of Zangetsu’s special abilities, charging up spirit pressure and unleashing it in a blade of compressed spirit pressure. Renji was utterly caught off guard and lost. |

Kurosaki Ichigo Vs. Kuchiki Byakuya Setting: Hill of Sokyouku in Soul Society Story: This battle takes place near the remains of Souryokuu, the legendary Zanpakuto which has the power of a 1000. Abarai Renji and Kurosaki Ichigo are attempting their rescue of Kuchiki Rukia. However, as Renji flees with Rukia in arms, Ichigo remains behind to ensure their escape. Three vice-captains are defeated without the use of Zangetsu, Ichigo’s Zanpakuto. After this small fight, Ichigo is confronted by Byakuya. Ichigo first spar off with his own Shikai form of Zanpakuto. Ichigo was “heavily” damaged by an attack of Byakuya’s. This is when Ichigo first releases his Bankai. Tensa Zangetsu (Heaven’s Chain Cutting Moon). Ichigo is now wearing a jacket similar to Zangetsu’s and holding a normal looking Zanpakuto, save some minor differences. The blade and guard is black, though the handle is black speckled with red diamond shapes on it as on a typical katana handle. This seems rather unbelievable due to its size, however, unleashing Ichigo’s fighting capability and the Tensa Zangetsu’s powers to enhance Ichigo’s speed, not even the great Byakuya can keep up with him. This was the time when Byakuya unleashes his own Shikai to defend himself. While working automatically and alone, the Senbon Zakura (Thousand Cherry Trees) could not keep up with Ichigo’s newly found speed. His Bankai was then released (more sakura petals) and it could not even keep up. After realizing this, Byakuya begins controlling Senbon Zakura with his hands, doubling his speed, and nearly capturing Ichigo. This was a failure, as Ichigo defeated all 10 000 petals of the Shikai. Ichigo’s counter also failed as Byakuya managed to move aside slightly and avoid receiving any fatal damage. Byakuya’s final line of defence of himself, was his final form of Bankai. Senbon Zakura Kageyoshi (Thousand Cherry Trees, Solemn Shadow), creates a field or zone bordered by ghastly katana. Using his own domain and the many swords, he fought Ichigo in straight sword fencing. As time wore on, Ichigo’s speed decreased. And after it was realized, he began receiving some damage. Byakuya and Ichigo made the final move to determine the victor, which was handed to Ichigo. |

Ichimaru Gin vs. Hitsugaya Toshirou Setting: Inner Seireitei in Soul Society Story: After many minutes of perusing, Hitsugaya had finally caught up to Gin and Kira. Moments after he discovered them he was attacked by a delirious Hinamori Momo. Hinamori believed that Hitsugaya had killed Aizen and attacked him for it. Hitsugaya incapacitated Hinamori without physically hurting her, although Hinamori had hurt herself by grasping the hilt of her sword so tightly that it caused her hands to bleed. Hitsugaya, blaming Gin for the situation, reminded him that if he spilt any of Hinamori’s blood Hitsugaya would kill him. Just as promised Hitsguaya attacked Gin with a burst of energy. Gin, with a nonchalant expression on his face, easily blocked and dodged all of Hitsugaya’s attacks only being hit slightly cutting his sleeve. Once the sleeve was cut Gin decided to take the offence and attacked with a myriad of stabs and thrusts. Hitsugaya could barely keep up and was forced back stumbling on his feet. Once both of them had finished their rallies they stepped away from each other and awaited the next move. Hitsugaya took the initiative again but with the full force of his shikai, Hyourinmaru. A massive ice dragon descended upon Gin who barely stopped it from freezing his whole body. Unknowingly, what can only be described as a sickle on a chain was some how wrapped around Gin’s arm which seemed to make him at the mercy of Hitsugaya’s next move. Gin, being the clever little devil that he is had a way out, he commanded his sword, Shinsou, to shoot directly at Hinamori to whom Hitsugaya would not reach in time. Luckily Matsumoto Rangiku jumped into the fray from out of no where to block the attack.Gin was forced to stop as he had some unknown history with Matsumoto and probably felt it best not to harm her. There, the battle ended and Hitsugaya brought Hinamori to the 4th Division Headquarters for Healing. |
